The Power Of H.A.L.T As Effective Stress Technique11 Nov
Today I had one of the days that many of us experience, where perhaps you did not get the sleep you required, and the world does not seem to be in line with your aims and ambitions, even though I know the world does not revolve round me or any other individual, I think if were honest here there’s often times were we think it should do, and when the world in general does not comply with our wishes, a whole raft of frustration and stress can occur. Have you ever had days like that?
Well while traveling through my day, fortunately I was reminded of something I learnt a little while a go and is an excellent stress relief technique and life balance strategy, its called H.A.L.T it stands for hungry, angry, lonely and tired, and the basic idea is anytime you are feeling any of these or more, you are advised to do two things, address the issue, so for instance if you are hungry eat something and secondly, be aware in a very hungry/angry/lonely tired state you will not make your best decisions or actions, and it may be wise to hold of till you feel more balanced and experiencing some stress relief . So in my day today there were certain meetings I had to attend, however as I was aware I was tired and as it happened a little angry, I made a conscious decision holding off making any final decisions till tomorrow, after making sure I have dealt with the cause of my anger and got a decent nights sleep.
I know this stress relief technique is simple, however one of the keys to stress relief is that of awareness, or as I like to call it, seeing you doing your stuff!
